Creating a recycling center in your home should take very little time. Simply grab a basket and place in a convenient section of your kitchen. Convenience is the key. If you have to open a drawer or leave the room to recycle, chances are you wont. You need to make it easier than throwing it in the trash, that way it will much more quickly become a habit. Yes it takes up precious counter space, but the idea of living a little more green makes up for that fact. I have a simple locker basket that I fill on a daily basis and then my youngest son has the chore of taking the basket daily into the garage where he does the sorting into larger bins. The task takes less than 2 minutes a day and I feel much better knowing that these items are not going into a landfill.Â
