I am a firm believer in if you can dream it, you can do it. So this got me thinking what do I want to do in my life, because I better start dreaming about it. Better yet, I should write it down. Even better, I should share it with my loved ones. So I sat and took 5 minutes and wrote down 10 things that I want to do and then asked my husband to do the same. We then exchanged lists. This is what my husband told me about my list, “I can see you doing all of these”. This is what I said when I saw his list, “I never knew you wanted to write a Sci-fi book?” Most of the things I want to do involve traveling, but more importantly some are about being a better me. For example, I want to learn to play the cello and how to hip-hop. Not at the same time mind you, but both of these activities would be a great addition to my skill set of life. I could use both of these skills when my kids get married….play Pachabel Cannon in D at the wedding and then show off my hip-hop moves during the grand march, ok, maybe not.
This is what I do know for sure (I think I stole this from Oprah), you should take the time to write down your bucket list or do a vision board to help you see where you want your future to be. Start with 10, then 20 and then go all the way to 100. Create a note on facebook, email it to your friends and family and share it. If you share it, you may find someone that can help you get some of those items off your bucket list. For example, maybe someone has a cello for sale. Maybe someone can hook you up with the person who speaks Mandarin Chinese in your town. Your friends and family want to be helpful, so share with them. And what Timothy Ferrris taught me in “Four Hour Work Week” is to not save up everything for your retirement, start doing the things on your bucket list now. For me I have done some really cool things this past year….things I had only dreamed about. But I did dream about them, and then I did them!
